The SIG Aviation Meteorology's goals are to discuss and investigate matters pertaining to aviation meteorology, including safety, whether in flight or on the ground. We have 19 members from a variety of areas of expertise, hence we plan to have sub-groups of commonality within the big umbrella of aviation meteorology to tackle those goals. We intend to have an annual meeting at Society HQ or similar easily accessible venue to discuss the general details of the SIG for the coming year, and individual meetings throughout the year in various locations to discuss or present specific subject areas of interest. Some of these subjects are clear air turbulence, lightning in stratocumulus cloud, forensic meteorology from in-flight turbulence incidents/accidents, and much much more!
