Developing a climate proofing policy for Leeds

A former graduate of the UEA Department of Environmental Sciences, David Cherry has worked with Leeds City Council for the last 24 years. His focus is in the field of environmental assessment, specialising in transport related noise, air quality and more recently climate change, covering both mitigation and adaptation. His presentation will provide a brief history of how Leeds City Council is currently developing it’s Climate proofing policy for housing and transport, and explain how this system is being incorporated within the Sustainability Appraisal process, to develop cost effective climate proofing measures for transport.  Examples will include sustainable drainage, winter maintenance, bridge design and road surfacing.
