5th NERC Technology Forum, Our Dynamic Earth |

| Info: | The biennial NERC Technology Forums have established themselves as valuable opportunities for technologists, engineers and scientists to refine existing concepts and to develop fresh ideas on technology in support of environmental science. The Fifth Forum will be held at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on 18th and 19th May 2010, hosted by the British Geological Survey. An outline programme is appended. Posters, exhibits and oral presentations are now invited. Please submit an abstract describing your contribution. Abstracts should occupy no more than a single side of A4 paper, and should be prepared in 12-point Times New Roman using Microsoft Word or compatible software. The abstract should consist of a title extending across no more than one line, clearly identify the name and affiliation of the principal presenter, and those of co-authors. Figures are welcome – please ensure that they will be appropriately legible when reproduced on an A4 sheet of paper. Please indicate whether the presentation is suitable for oral or poster presentation. If an exhibit is proposed, please append relevant details such as floor area, power requirements &c. Abstracts should be emailed to TechForum2010@bgs.ac.uk by 15th April 2010. We plan to schedule 20 minutes for standard oral presentations, but are happy to consider requests for shorter or longer “slots”. We encourage authors of posters or exhibits to give a brief (two-slide) oral summary of their poster or exhibit within a relevant session and will automatically schedule a suitable “slot”. Poster displays should be A0 size. Attendance is by pre-registration. To register, send your details by email to TechForum2010@bgs.ac.uk before 15th April 2010. Places are limited and will be allocated on that date with first priority to NERC-employed engineers and technologists, and second priority to interested members of the wider UK Research Council science community. Requests for registration received at TechForum2010@bgs.ac.uk after 15th April will be met on a first-come, first-served basis as long as places are available. This is a NERC-sponsored event. There is no registration fee for NERC staff or members of the wider UK Research Council science community. We particularly wish to encourage early-career engineers and technologists to attend, and may be in a position to provide some assistance toward travel costs to such staff at NERC Centres and Surveys. Send expressions of interest to TechForum2010@bgs.ac.uk before 15th April. There is no separate commercial exhibition, but commercial attendance and exhibits are welcome to the extent that places and/or floor space are available. Please contact TechForum2010@bgs.ac.uk outlining your requirements as soon as possible. A charge may be levied to defray costs associated with commercial exhibits. |
