The Royal Meteorological Society is committed to safeguarding your privacy online. We use the information we collect about you to help us understand more about how our site is used.
The two sections following relate to:A. RMetS Members and how personal information is treated

A. RMetS Members’ Data
Some personal information including addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses,
and other demographic information is collected for membership, subscriptions
and publications, meeting registrations, submission of articles, and
other similar transactions. RMetS takes precautions to protect your
individual information from unauthorised use. RMetS may make internal
use of your contact information to inform you of situations or services
that may interest you.
The RMetS online access to contact details is a service restricted to use
by members.* It contains basic contact information and membership data.
E-mail addresses are not released to outside organizations, except when
a vendor performs a service for RMetS under its supervision. Our policy
is not to sell or divulge member postal mailing addresses except to those
performing a service for us (e.g. journal distribution, when we supply
printed address labels to our printers rather than lists.)
*RMetS members may change and update their addresses, e-mail address online.
With reference to the Society Journals, author or referee information is
never divulged, and is only used for purposes related to RMetS, its
journals, and/or manuscripts which have been submitted to them.
When you submit credit card transaction information to our site online it is authorized and cleared through our payment service provider Secpay. All payments are made securely and all card details are encrypted.
B. Non-members’ data (online customers etc)
Any personal data collected on this site is information that enables us to identify you, such as your email address, name, title, and address.

1. What personally identifiable information does RMetS collect from me?

We use the information we collect about you to help us with understanding more about how our site is used and to be able to record goods and services provided.
3. Who is collecting your information?
When you are on the RMetS website and are asked for personal information, you are sharing that information with RMetS alone unless stated otherwise. For example, when you are using our secure online payment pages you are either going through a secure site or going through to a partner company, Secpay. http://www.secpay.com. As a general rule, we will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information, except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. When you are using our secure online trading pages you are going through to a partner company or using our secure server and the information you give such as your credit card number and contact information is provided so that the transaction can take place.5. What are my choices regarding, collection, use and distribution of my information?
If you indicated that you are interested in receiving information about becoming a member of the Society, or subscribing to our journals, then we may contact you about this, either electronically or otherwise. RMetS does not sell, give or rent user information to any third party organisations.6. What is RMetS’s policy on allowing me to update, correct, or delete my personally identifiable information?
The accuracy of your individual identifying information is important to us. If you change email address or any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please email us at info@rmets.org with your new contact details.7. How does RMetS protect my personal identifiable information?
RMetS is committed to taking reasonable steps to protect the individual identifying information that you provide to us.8. What about children’s privacy?
The safety of children is very important to us. Our education site Metlink.org does not collect personally identifiable information from children. Children should always ask a parent for permission before sending personal information to anyone online.
9. What security precautions are in place to protect against loss, misuse, or alteration of my information?
When you give RMetS personal information that information may be stored and processed outside of the UK and we take steps to ensure that your information is treated securely.Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, RMetS cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you transmit it at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.
Payments and Returns
Payments
Payments are processed securely through our online partner Secpay. All credit card information is encrypted.
Returns and Cancellations
Conference Bookings - Cancellations
Refunds will be made if requested up to 4 weeks before the starting
date of the conference. 25% of the total amount booked will be deducted
for administration costs
Substitutions may be made up until 2 weeks before the start of the
conference.
Other Products purchased online
RMetS operates a 28 day returns policy for any goods purchased online.
During this time you may return goods for whatever reason as long as
they are in their original condition.
This excludes CDs, DVDs and other recordable media
To return goods
Please email orders@rmets.org informing us that you will be returning
the goods.
Please package the relevant item(s) securely and send it to us at

For your protection, we recommend that you use a recorded-delivery
service if the value of the return is more than GBP 50 .
Please note that you will be responsible for the costs of returning
the items to us unless we delivered the item to you in error, or if
the item is damaged or defective.
As soon as we receive notice of your cancellation of this order, we
will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item together
with the item' s normal postage charge. We cannot refund any priority,
express or courier component of the postage charge.
Delivery and Availability
RMetS cannot guarantee that all the items on the online shop will remain available indefinitely. However, every effort will be made to maintain continuity of supply.

Your order will normally be despatched to you within 10 working days.
