The School of Environmental Sciences is one of the longest established, largest and most fully developed Schools of Environmental Sciences in Europe. The Atmospheric Science Group at Manchester works in the areas of the microphysics of clouds and aerosol, heterogeneous atmospheric chemistry, radiative transfer, the deposition, conversion and transport of atmospheric pollution, thunderstorm electrification, atmospheric dynamics and remote sensing. The hydrometeorology group at Salford specializes in radar and lidar remote sensing. The current research profile encompasses water resource modelling, the assimilation of data into forecasting models and the affects on urbanization on the atmospheric boundary layer. More details can be found here.
