2003 at a glance:
JANUARY: Fairly Sunny, near average Temperatures and Rainfall but some snow late in month.
FEBRUARY: Rather Cold, but largely Dry and very Sunny.
MARCH: Some Rain first Two Weeks the Dry, Mild and very Sunny.
APRIL: Often Dry and Sunny, and Warmest for over 50 years.
MAY: A near average month but a heatwave to finish it.
JUNE: Warmest since at least 1976, fairly Sunny but several thundery outbreaks.
JULY: Heat-wave 7th - 16th. Mostly near average Sunshine and Rainfall amounts, but heavy local thunderstorms.
AUGUST: Largely Dry, especially 12th to 27th; again isolated thunderstorms. Very Warm with near average Sunshine (record high temperatures on 9th).
SEPTEMBER: Dry, fairly sunny and warm (warmer than average days but many clear cold nights)
OCTOBER: Exceptionally sunny, fairly dry but rather cool. Solar storm in last week gave brilliant aurorae.
NOVEMBER: Warm with mostly average sunshine. Dry in north-west midlands and wet in south-east.
DECEMBER: Rainfall and Sunshine both above normal. Daytime temperatures near normal, but more frosts and some exceptionally cold nights.
