OBSERVERS' COMMENTS

Derby: On 28th Blizzard briefly in pm, serious icing during evening
Laughton: Maximum Wind Chill -19C on 29th
Lowdham: Highest number of January rain days on local record (1959)
Middleton: 8th consecutive January with very little snow
Ely: 8cm snow early on 28th and 2cm more in afternoon
Desford: Spectacular cold front passage 1430 on 28th gave blizzard conditions
Mickleover: Blizzard conditions afternoon 28th but snow depth only 2cm
Rosliston: The hyped up 'big freeze' produced no more than 2cm of snow lying.
