OBSERVERS' COMMENTS

Mountsorrel: A very wet start & unsettled at month end, but 12-27th anticyclonic and dry with some warm days
Mickleover: Surface pressure 977mb on 5th was lowest for May since my records began in 1984
Derby: Only 0.1mm rainfall 10-28th (longest May drought since 1961)
Wirksworth: Air pressure on 4th lowest in May on my records (1963)
Desford: A dry month with N-ly winds dominating but no frost
