OBSERVERS' COMMENTS

Ely:  Temperatures exactly average.  Only 1.7mm rainfall after 18th.
Rosliston:  A very cool first half - mean temp 1st-15th only 14.1C
Mickleover:  July 8th with max only 12.0C was my coldest ever July day
Laughton:  8th Rain and Gales with wind chill of +1C.   Wind NNE.
Mountsorrel:  Severe storm 22nd - 15mm in one hour.
Middleton+Wirksworth: 8th was coldest July day on record with NE gale
Louth:  Total July rainfall a massive 282% of normal
Lowdham: Daytime Max 12.2C on 8th coldest July day for over 26 years.
Derby: 12.1 on 8th coldest July day on record (other local records suggest comparisons occurred in 1949,1948,1938,1930,1922,1920,1916)
Desford: On 22nd 1548-1800 thunderstorm with local flash flooding.
