OBSERVERS' COMMENTS

Most stations: Min on 9th was highest for any month since records began
Bablake: Wettest Aug since 1912 (157.1); it ranks 3rd behind 1912 and 1878 in wettest Augs since 1870.
Rosliston: Warm but exceptionally wet - no more than 2 consecutive dry days.
Mickleover: Thunderstorm with torrential rainfall 23rd - flooding in Derby centre.
Middleton: Wettest Aug since records began 1870. Most thundery Aug on record.
Lowdham: 48.1mm highest rainfall for any day since 10th July 1968
Desford: Cold front on 20th brought an early taste of autumn.
