OBSERVERS' NOTES
All stations report record high temperatures for individual days and the monthly
average. It was the hottest month at any time of year in Coventry
since before 1892: 1868 in the Nottingham area: and 1836 in Leicestershire.
Ely : On 26/27 nearly all the storms going headed straight for my raingauge! (=103.2mm)
Desford: Thunderstorm on 6th shook the house. Noctilucent clouds on 14th
Rosliston: Max wind gust 41mph on 9th, highest on my July record.
Mickleover: No sunless days observed. Mean pressure highest since July 1989.
Middleton: The sunniest month on record, with 13 days recording over 75% of possible
Mountsorrel: New sunshine recorder installed - what a month to start!
