OBSERVERS' NOTES
  Rosliston :8 days recorded gusts of wind above 40mph
Ely: Freezing day in fog on 19th (0.9C)
Mickleover: First Dec since 1988 without snow falling
Middleton: Prior to Christmas we had 3 days of continuous sunshine while the valleys
  endured thick freezing fog.
Wirksworth was 5 to 7C colder than Middleton during the inversion prior to Christmas
Lowdham: 1044mb on 22nd highest pressure for any month since November 2001
Bablake & Derby: Mildest December since 1988
Mountsorrel: 13 days with no sunshine at all, including 7 consecutive ones 20-26th inclusive
