Concessions, Direct Debits and Reciprocal Agreements
Payment by Direct Debit may be made annually, half-yearly or quarterly. To change to payment by Direct Debit, or to change your existing Direct Debit payment installments, please contact us. Please note that payment by Direct Debit is available to members with UK bank accounts only.
If you are an existing Direct Debit payer who wishes to continue to pay yearly on 1 January you need not do anything.
If you wish to set up a new Direct Debit or are an existing Direct Debit payer who wishes to change the frequency of your payment from January 2018, you may pay yearly on 1 January, half-yearly on 1 January and 1 July, or quarterly on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October. Please download the form below or contact the Membership Secretary at email@example.com.
Please note that all requests to pay by Direct Debit or to change payment dates need to be received by 1 December 2017 at the latest. We will be unable to process any Direct Debit changes for 2018 after that date.
Those who have been members of the Society for 20 years or more and are either; (a) aged 65 or over or (b) are over 60 years old and retired, may apply for a 50% discount. Members, under the age of 18 years on 1 January of the current year, and students are also entitled to the concessionary rate (a 50% reduction in annual fees) and student members who have recently graduated can take advantage of an Early Career Discount which extends this reduction for 3 years after graduation.
In 2011 the Society introduced a new subscription rate for Fellows elected after 1 January 2011. Fellows elected before this date remain on the ‘Existing Fellows’ rate, but you can opt to move on to the new rate at the time of renewal if you would like to give this additional support to the Society.
The Society has reached reciprocal agreements with the Institute of Physics and the Royal Photographic Society. Any member of the Society who is a fully paid up member of the IOP or RPS may be entitled to a 25% discount on normal Society fees. Proof of membership will be required, and those members paying the discounted rate will not receive a paper copy of Weather, but will have free access to Weather online.
You may renew your subscriptions online in the secure Members’ Dashboard area. If using this facility for the first time you will need to quote your Membership Number which appears on renewal letters. In this area you also have the opportunity to revise your subscription details and contact information if these have changed. If you have not already done so you may need to link your membership number to a new profile and choose a new password. To register or log in use the box at the top-right of the page.
By making a Gift Aid declaration you can help the Society with its charitable aims even more at no further cost to you
