Air Quality Monitoring and Modelling Advances
LOCATION
The Institute of Structural Engineers
47-58 Bastwick St
London EC1V 3PS
Air quality is crucial for public health and environmental sustainability. According to a 2020 report by Public Health England, air pollution is estimated to contribute to between 28,000 and 36,000 deaths annually in the UK. Long-term exposure to pollutants like nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM2.5) is linked to various serious health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer. Improving air quality is also essential for meeting climate targets. In this meeting, we will discuss advances in the monitoring and modelling of air pollution and consider challenges ahead with a UK focus.
