SPEAKER | Gillian Young, British Antarctic Survey.
ABSTRACT | When we think of ice in Antarctica, we often focus on the numerous ice shelves, seasonal sea ice, or vast ice sheets. Here, I will talk about a different kind of ice that we often don’t consider – the ice in Antarctic clouds. I
will discuss how Antarctic cloud ice governs cloud lifetime and precipitation production, and show how understanding the ice above is critical for predicting the future of the frozen world below.
This meeting is part of the Royal Meteorological Society Meetings programme, open to all, from expert to enthusiast, for topical discussions on the latest advances in weather and climate. Free to attend. Non members are welcome.
