A History of Dundee Satellite Receiving Station and the Follow-On DSS LTD Ground Station
LOCATION
Neil presented a history of DSRS, from its early development and becoming a fully operational facility in the mid-1970s, through more than 40 years of supporting environmental researchers and many others with access to EO satellite data, until the station's eventual closure in 2019. He will also discuss the subsequent work and progress in establishing the new Dundee Satellite Station Ltd ground station at a former RAF WWII airfield in Errol, Perthshire.
This was a 45 minute talk followed by 15 minutes for Q&A. The meeting opened from 5:50 pm for attendees to join and the event started promptly at 6 pm.

MR Neil Lonie, Dundee Satellite Station LTD
Neil Lonie has a background in Electrical & Electronic Engineering having graduated with a BSc (Hons) degree from Dundee College of Technology. He was employed by the University of Dundee as Station Manager of the Dundee Satellite Receiving Station (DSRS) facility from 1988 until 2019. Since then, he has been working with former DSRS colleagues to establish a new ground station.
