IPCC Special Report Meeting – Climate change around the Globe
LOCATION
BEIS Westminister Conference Centre
1 Victoria Street
London SW1H 0ET
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) produces a series of Assessment Reports about the state of knowledge on climate change, its causes, impacts and options for action. The IPCC also delivers Special Reports on specific issues. In October 2018, the Special Report on “Global Warming of 1.5°C” under the scientific leadership of Working Groups I, II and III was released. In August and September 2019, two other Special Reports are expected: “Climate Change and Land” (Working Groups I, II and III), and “The Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate” (Working Groups I and II).
This meeting will explore the two latest special reports in detail through presentations and panel discussions. Just as the reports, the meeting will cover a broad range of topics: Land-climate interactions, land degradation, food security, sustainable land management, climate change of polar regions and high mountain areas, sea level rise, changing marine ecosystems and marine extreme events such as marine heatwaves and storms. The topic of risk management is an important topic across both Special Reports. The afternoon session will synthesize the lessons learned from all three different reports including the 1.5°C report and their relevance for policy makers, the private sector and society.
REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED.
