Droplets readily become charged in many clouds, not just thunderclouds. Charge is thought to influence the stability of drops against evaporation, and to modify droplet coalescence. A new generation of measurement and modelling techniques makes the study of charge droplet interactions more tractable than ever. Modifying droplet charge may offer a novel route to weather modification. Through a range of presentations, this meeting will consider the state of knowledge of electrified clouds from the microphysics view point, with an emphasis away from thunderclouds.
