ABSTRACT: The success of private sector weather forecasting faces many challenges. It requires that one to cater to the needs of the client and not assume what the consumer wants. Other challenges exist in competing against the ready availability of Numerical Weather Prediction products. Opportunities exist by adding value for the consumer. We will look at some of the challenges and opportunities within private sector weather forecasting and how it may work as a viable business between the public weather forecasts and industry.
