ABSTRACT | This presentation will briefly look at the meteorology of the storm, but will concentrate on its effects in both southern Scotland and north-east England in the context of the post-War redevelopment of cities. I will conclude with an examination of the increasing ability of forecasters to predict the effects of these periodic, though still comparatively rare, storms.
