Impacts of climate change were only even more evident in 2022, with flash floods, surges, heatwaves and extreme high temperatures, impacting the UK and international communities. In our ' Understanding the Weather of 2022' we bring together a panel of exceptional speakers to share their perspectives on the major weather events of 2022 in the context of a “water” theme. The event brought together speakers from various sectors covering topics such as an overview of the year 2022 in the context of long-term climate change, the heatwaves of 2022 in the UK and Europe, insights on impacts on hydrology and operational challenges from the Environment Agency. The series ended with a description of the UK coastal changes due to significant storms and noticeable storm surges events for the past year and a panel session.
