VIRTUAL MEETING | The Weird and Wonderful World of Radar Aeroecology.
LOCATION
SPEAKER | Freya I. Addison
ABSTRACT | Join me on our journey to discovering how we can measure insects using weather radar. We will go through the general principle of replacing weather with insects in our radar measurements, and look at how we can model insects virtually.
BIOGRAPHY | Freya is a current PhD student at the University of Leeds. She graduated from the University of Kent in 2016 in astrophysics, but a summer internship flying with the UK's atmospheric research aircraft brought her interests down to Earth to settle with the sky. From clouds to insects Freya enjoys studying the mix from the lens of different instruments including ground-based weather radar. Freya was on the first official field campaign of the Biodar project and she will be discussing how we can measure insects on a larger scale using weather radar.
This was a 30 minute presentation with a 10-15 minute Q&A session.
