VIRTUAL | Understanding the Weather of 2021
LOCATION
Virtual Meeting
The consequences of climate change only grew clearer this year, as record-shattering heatwaves, floods, and wildfires affected thousands and strained the limits of our disaster responders. In our ' Understanding the Weather of 2021' we are delighted to bring together a panel of exceptional speakers to share their perspectives on the major weather events of 2021 in the context of long-term climate change. The event will bring together speakers from various threads of research covering topics such as an overview of the year 2021 in the context of long-term climate change, the major events of 2021 in the UK, insights on the mountain weather in the UK in 2021 and, characteristics of the hydrological cycle for the past year. The series will end with insights into the major global 2021 extreme events (e.g floods, wildfires, etc) how they fit within the long-term trends and, the main outcomes/climate action at COP26.
