Global Climate Strike 20 September 2019

20 September 2019

Today, on the 20 September, millions of people are joining the global climate strike all around the globe. They are protesting for immediate action “to stop burning fossil fuels and ensure a rapid energy revolution with equity, reparations and climate justice at its heart”, according to the Global Climate Strike website. In Reading, people of all ages were seen joining the initiative today.

The Society produces a number of Climate Science Briefing Papers, which clearly and concisely explain important aspects of climate sciences. We have papers on questions like “What do we mean by climate change?”, “How does variation in the sun’s output affect climate?” or “How does climate change affect weather?”.

In November this year, we are hosting the national meeting entitled “IPCC Special Report Meeting – Climate change around the Globe”, looking at the results from the three recent IPCC Special Reports “Global Warming of 1.5°C”, “Climate Change and Land”, and “The Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate”. The registrations are open now.
