New Met Office Chief Executive Visits the Society
The Society was delighted to welcome new Met Office Chief Executive, Professor Penelope Endersby, to its headquarters in Reading on 14th March. Penny met with Society President, David Warrilow, and Society Chief Executive, Professor Liz Bentley.
The meeting continues a longstanding relationship between our two organisations. The discussions included areas for collaboration, and the importance of professional development and benchmarking. The Society offers all its members use of a bespoke professional development tool, ACCSYS. The Society is also the only body able to award Registered or Chartered status for Meteorologists. The registers for those accredited, who may use the post-nominals RMet and CMet, are published on the Society's website.
Penny took on her new role in December and has previously met Liz at the Met Office headquarters in Exeter. Liz and David enjoyed a very productive meeting with Penny, and look forward to continuing to work with the Met Office.
