RMetS Early Career and Student Conference 2023

Our Early Career & Student Conference will take place on Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 July 2023.

We are pleased to announce that the price for Members is the same as in 2022, and members can also access legacy funding for the cost of the event. 

Our annual student conference provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduates, graduate students, and early-career scientists to present their work in a friendly environment. There will be keynote speakers and poster sessions alongside a series of oral presentations.

This year speakers include:

  • Welcome and Opening Address Prof Liz Bentley, CEO, Royal Meteorological Society
  • The Future of Surface Transport Forecasting at the Met Office Alice Lake, Scientist – Post-processing Applications, Met Office
  • How the Met Office took TikTok by Storm Emma Lawrence, Content Production Co-ordinator, Met Office

Legacies Funding

If you have been a member of the Royal Meteorological Society for more than 12 months, you can apply for funding to cover the cost of attending the Conference from the Society’s Legacy Fund.

The Legacies Fund is made up of small monetary grants made to members (usually younger scientists) to help finance expeditions, carry out research or attend meteorological conferences.
