About the Competition

Now in its ninth year, Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year showcases the world's most striking weather and climate photographs and provides an international platform to raise awareness about the environmental issues putting our planet at risk. This annual competition is open to photographers of all ages and abilities, including professionals and amateurs, and is free to enter. The 2024 competition is now closed for entries - watch this space and our Instagram channel: @rmets_, for the winners' announcement on 30th October 2024.

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the world today, and its impact on the environment and human health significantly affects sustainable economic growth and the future of society. The competition, hosted by the Royal Meteorological Society, provides an ongoing commentary on the fragility and beauty of the planet.
