Becoming a Climate Ambassador
The Climate Ambassador Scheme matches volunteer climate experts with education settings such as nurseries, schools and colleges to support them to develop climate action plans.
Put your expertise and experience in weather & climate to use, supporting education settings to reduce carbon emissions, tackle climate risks, improve biodiversity and inspire and inform the next generation.
While it is unlikely that you are an expert in all of these aspects, the fact that you are pursuing a career in weather and climate means that you could probably contribute to activities such as a delivering a guest talk, representing the profession at a careers fair, providing climate subject knowledge training to teachers or guidance to the leadership team about the projected risks from extreme heat or flooding.
Through the STEM ambassador platform, volunteers are trained, DBS checked and linked with local education settings that have need of their particular area of expertise.
To get involved, visit the Climate Ambassador website to be linked with your local hub, or sign up directly at https://www.stem.org.uk/climate-ambassadors/stem-ambassadors
To become a Climate Ambassador, first register as a STEM Ambassador. Then, when registering, you will be asked ‘If you are associated with a scheme’- please type ‘Climate Ambassadors’ into this box to register as a Climate Ambassador.
If you are a RMetS member, please add that to the ‘Professional Institution membership’ part of your profile and consider giving consent for that information to be shared with us, allowing us to track the support our members are giving the Climate Ambassador scheme.
