Legacies Fund

Available exlusively to RMetS members, the Legacies fund is made up of small monetary grants made to members (usually younger scientists) to help finance expeditions, carry out research or attend meteorological conferences, for which adequate funds are not otherwise available. Applicants must have been a member of the Society for at least a year before applying.

Application Forms must be submitted to the Society's postal address, or emailed to membership@rmets.org.

Explore the reports below to learn more about the RMetS Legacies Fund has been used by our Early Career members:

Matthew Priestley shares how the RMetS Legacies Fund enabled him to present his research and engage with new audiences and subject areas at the 20th Cyclone Workshop, hosted in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, Canada.

Fran Morris shares how the Legacies Fund aided her professional development after completing a PhD in tropical meteorology.

Eliza Karlowska shares how the Legacies Fund aided her professional development as a PhD student studying air-sea interactions in the tropics.

Ruth Dunn shares how the RMetS Legacies Fund enabled her to attend two RMetS conferences in Manchester, providing opportunities to engage with fellow researchers and expand her professional network.

Emilia Sindila shares how the RMetS Legacies Fund enabled her to present a poster based on a chapter of her PhD research at The Royal Meteorological Society Early Career and Student Conference 2025.
