Diverse Voices: Senior Academics of Colour
LOCATION
Virtual - Hosted on Zoom
Join us for the second in our ‘Diverse Voices’ online series! These informal conversations will help to amplify and celebrate the diversity of scientists working in and around the field of weather and climate in the UK. In this session, we will hear from two senior academics of colour about their background and journey to where they are today. Please join us to learn about our speakers’ paths to becoming Professors, and to ask any questions you may have about following in their footsteps!
Speakers
Dr Anita Ganesan, Associate Professor, School of Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol
Dr Anita Ganesan obtained her PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2013 and has since established an international reputation for her work in quantifying emissions of greenhouse gases and ozone layer-destroying substances. Between 2015-2020, Ganesan was a NERC Independent Research Fellow, based at the University of Bristol. Dr Ganesan currently leads a large Horizon Europe project to advance national estimation of the major greenhouse gases across eight European countries. She received the Leverhulme Prize In Geography in 2022 and the Arne Richter Award from the European Geosciences Union in 2021.
