LOCATION

Weather and Sailing 2018, organised by The Royal Institute of Navigation Small Craft Group and The Royal Meteorological Society, in conjunction with Royal Museums Greenwich.
Whether you are a leisure coastal yachtsman or ocean-going or professional charter skipper or racing enthusiast this Seminar is for you. Technology continues to come along in leaps and bounds, driven by the need for relevant information to be made easily available in an accessible format 24/7, whilst on the move. The ever-growing iPad and smart phone market, with Apps available at little or no cost, has completely revolutionised how data can be accessed and updated, even whilst afloat. Before, during and after the Seminar, there will be time for delegates to network with each other, as well as with the speakers and organisers.
Speakers are selected for their particular knowledge and experience in various aspects of the core topics of Navigation and Meteorology and then invited to speak on a topic that will be of interest to a broadly-based audience, comprising leisure yachtsmen, amateur meteorologists and professionals from both the yachting and meteorological fraternity.
Registration has closed.
This meeting is part of the Royal Meteorological Society Meetings programme, open to all, from expert to enthusiast, for topical discussions on the latest advances in weather and climate.
Other meetings and events of interest...
From HMS Challenger to Argo and Beyond: Ocean Profile Data; their History, Uses and Future Prospects
Knowledge of the temperature and salinity of the oceans is fundamental to our understanding of their internal dynamics and is increasingly important to a wide range of ocean and climate applications. This meeting will show how our ability to collect, process and collate these observations has developed up to the present day with the information from about 3,800 Argo profilers provides global-scale, high-quality information throughout the year. Weather Live - Extreme Weather
The Royal Meteorological Society is hosting an extreme weather conference to explore the severe weather events and climates around the world. Whether its tornadoes or hurricanes, working in extreme conditions or communicating high impact weather, we'll take a closer look at extreme weather - its power, its beauty, its occasional absurdity and its fragility in the face of human activity.
