Rainfall, Fell : A writer's response to the Cumbria floods of December 2015
LOCATION
SPEAKER | Sarah Thomas, Free-lance writer & film maker
ABSTRACT | Non-fiction writer Sarah Thomas takes us through the life cycle of a piece of text inspired by her own involvement in the Cumbria floods of December 2015 and its aftermath. She will discuss how life writing is one possible and important creative response to the increasing frequency of dramatic weather events, and how her approaches to this text have been informed by research she is undertaking in her PhD into the literary expression of a more interconnected and non-anthropocentric worldview. Finally she will tell us about the contexts in which this text has been, and will be, brought to life.
