SPEAKER | Mr Stephen Burt FRMetS, University of Reading.
ABSTRACT | Good meteorological imagery is a subtle mix of science and art, experience and technology. The talk will outline the most important aspects, illustrated throughout with a varied selection of both still photography and time-lapse video.
BIOGRAPHY | Stephen bought his first 35 mm film camera in 1978 and in the intervening 40 years has accumulated an archive of more than half a million cloud and weather images from around the world, mostly on Kodachrome slide film up to 2000 and digital media since. His photographs appear regularly in books and magazines including Weather and the Society's calendars, and more recently a wide selection was used in the World Meteorological Organisation's new online International Cloud Atlas.
