North East Local Centre
The North East Centre of the Society is one of the longest-running of the regional centres.
For nearly 35 years it has offered an annual programme of eight lectures, normally on the second Friday of each month but with a summer break.
Topics are varied and interesting ranging from climate change, to birds and the weather and the work of TV weather forecasters.
Each meeting begins with a review of the previous month's weather, with local members bringing their own weather reports for brief discussion.
With our co-host, the University of Durham, we also hold the 'Annual Gordon Manley Memorial Lecture', the Society's biggest event in northern England.
